 Gay Cartier is the
owner/operator of ABC2Recovery.com. Gay offers Online Addiction
Counselling and Recovery Coaching services to alcoholics and addicts
of other addictions, their partners, family members, friends, and
adult children of addictions.
Gay discovered her passion for working with alcoholics/addicts
and the people who care for them, in 1978. Since then she has
worked with alcoholics and addicts of other addictions in their
quest to attain maintain and retain their recovery. She also
works closely with the partners, family members, friends and adult
children of addictions who want to recover from the affects of
another person’s addiction and want to reclaim their life and build
a life-style of their choice.
Her clients come from all walks of life. They feel confident in
the knowledge that she is totally committed in assisting them to
achieve a quality of recovery they are happy with. Gay
believes that support, empathy, respect and trust form the basis of
any client and counsellor/coach relationship.
In private practice Gay worked as an Addiction Counsellor,
Recovery Coach and Personal Development Trainer. She has been
employed as a group facilitator, case manager and residential care
worker in the areas of mental health, child protection and alcohol
and other drug addictions.

Gay is aware that the quest for recovery is not always easy. In
early recovery many alcoholics and addicts struggle to maintain
their recovery. Many partners, family members, friends and
adults children of addictions also struggle to recovery from another
person’s addictions and addictive behaviours.
To assist alcoholics and addicts of other addictions to remain
clean and sober, Gay recommends a personalised recovery-based
program. She will personalise a recovery program by combining
different therapy models, intervention strategies, coping skills and
communication methods to suit the alcoholic and addict need,
situation and circumstances.
Gay will also personalise a program to help the usually
co-dependent partner, family members, friends and adult children of
addictions to emotionally detach from the addictive person and focus
on looking after themselves. This allows the addictive person to be
responsible for the consequences of his/her addictive behaviour,
while allowing the partner, family members, friends and adult child
of addictions to build a life and life-style of their choice.
Personalised programs address the difficulty of dealing with an
addictive disorder, relationship problems, co-dependent issues,
related life issues, loss and grief issues and life stage
transitions.
Gay continues to work with alcoholics and addicts of other
addictions, their partners, family members, friends and adult
children of addiction in their quest for recovery, and who want to
‘make the necessary changes required to reclaim their life and
life-style to move forward, to enjoy healthy relationships and
discover the essence of their authentic self.
